LASS MONTHLY MEETING SCHEDULE FOR 2012

Under normal circumstances the monthly schedule is driven by the weekend and the phase of the moon. The one factor that I haven't considered in the past has been the weather. That caused quite a disruption in the 2011 schedule and we only made around 50% of the scheduled meetings. I haven't found a good way to control the weather varable so I will stick to the other two---namely the weekends and the moon phase. Maybe a consideration for holidays and major star parties throught the state would be wise.
Starting times for meetings are a function of the season with late start times in the summer and early starting during the winter months. To be on the safe side, just plan to arrive a few minutes before dark and all will work out fine.
A bit of advice concerning the weather----if you think it is going to be OK then by all means come on out. Otherwise just do whatever you would do on any other non observing night. There will always be another night to howl at the moon.

If you are on the regular LASS e-mail list, you will receive a notice a few days before any scheduled meeting with any changes or special information. If you do not receive an e-mail and you plan to attend a specific meeting, please call 817-578-9155 or 254-646-2283 to confirm that the meeting is still scheduled. LASS will try to schedule at least one of the summer meeting for a location away from the regular viewing site. During the months of September and October there are several statewide star parties that may necessitate a change in the regular LASS meetings.
